SharePoint Migration

Vantage 365’s SharePoint migration service is designed to help you to move between versions of SharePoint so that can continue to benefit from the platform which boasts more and more functionality.

Whether you are looking to move from an older on-premises SharePoint implementation to the cloud, or just looking to migrate between other on-premises versions, we are here to help pave the way for a successful transition.

Our Approach to SharePoint Migrations

We work with you to understand what the start state looks like, including size and composition of data.

Through workshops, we will design what the new environment looks like in order to meet your business objectives and to ensure that we maximise the chances of success for the migration.

The biggest part of the project, where we start to copy your data between your environments, either by using tooling or scripts to drive the process.

Including adoption in your SharePoint Migration

With our experience in migrations, we understand that simply migrating data is not the only challenge within these projects. Changes in the system will always bring user challenges too, whether that is a change to the normal interfaces that your users are interacting with or unfamiliarity with the product as a whole.

We always include change and adoption within our migration projects to ensure that we are not only looking after the IT requirements but are also working with the business users to ensure that they are comfortable with new ways of working once their data has moved.

Adoption is a key part of a SharePoint Migration

SharePoint Migration Projects

There are many ways that we can help you to migrate to SharePoint, with the approach being completely dependent on where the data resides to begin with, and where you want it go to.

SharePoint upgrades

Upgrade and migrate data between versions of SharePoint.

On-premises to SharePoint

Move from SharePoint 2007, 2010, 2013, 2016, and 2019 to SharePoint in Microsoft 365.

G Suite to Microsoft 365

Moving from Google apps to Microsoft 365 requires not only technical management but also adoption and change.

File Share to SharePoint

Remove the dependence on the on-premises file system and the access issues that come with it by migrating to SharePoint and OneDrive.

SharePoint Migration Tools

To help migrations to run as smoothly as possible, there are a number of tools that we can use to drive success.

SharePoint Migration Tool Logo

SharePoint Migration Tool

The free-to-use migration tool has been provided by Microsoft to facilitate simple migrations from on-premises SharePoint farms and file systems, to SharePoint in Microsoft 365. We use this for lift and shift migrations as well as low-complexity migration projects.

ShareGate Logo

ShareGate is a premium migration tool that brings with it an extraordinary number of audit and discovery tools, as well as a robust migration engine that handles most transformation migrations. If we need to tag or add metadata to documents during migration, then ShareGate is our tool of choice.

LinkTek Logo

LinkFixer isn’t a migration tool, but a tool that allows us to change links in documents during the migration process. It uses its patented software to discover links that have been embedded into the most common document types and then replaces them when all of the data has been migrated to reduce the manual effort required to change this post-migration.

ocrato logo

Ocrato is another tool that we can use to help migration projects run more efficiently. It provides several tools such as the ability to OCR documents so that become searchable once in SharePoint or to compress large files so that the overall size of the data being copied is reduced. This speeds up the migration process and allows you to consolidate the space that is needed once your content is stored in SharePoint.
